Mermaids? Kinda? But nope! Just regular old fish. Kinda. But also: deer? Ants? Eagles?! Parrots?! Monkeys!? Ogres? Princes? Queens!? One day she actually did something nice for her mother dearest, and ended up catching an enchanted fish! The fish talked (gasp!) and begged the girl not to eat it, but she of course does, and, much to her doting parents' lament, TURNS INTO A FISH. Quickly she finds the water, without so much as a thought to her previous life or her poor old parents. All of a sudden in the span of a day, which feels like months, honestly, she accepts a quest from a slighted queen to restore her crown, and in the process, changes into so many different animals! She also ends up meeting a prince, go figure, but she's in deer form when this happens, so it's super strange that he falls for her? Anyway, fairytales... what are you going to do? Anyway, without giving away too much, join me for tonight's travails in this classic French fairy tale by Madame d'Aulnoy, "The Girl-Fish." It is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's quiet, calming, shapeshifting fairytale story!
