“The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe. While haunting, yes, the poem is more of a sad tale about a man struggling with the loss of his beloved Lenore. A raven visits him and refuses to leave, seemingly representing the memory of his love and the difficulty in moving on with his life. Though he tries to forget this painful memory, the poor wretch can only face devastating reality: it will never leave. His soul will be lifted ‘nevermore’.
